-Meter: Duple, ¾, 4/4
-Recognize commonly used instruments.
-Explore various technologies for music.
-Explore creative ways/objects to make music.

  • Students will learn new songs with the assistance of text, modeling and repetition.
  • Students will learn the form of music of spoken language.
  • Students will experimenting with altering melodies and timbres: (different emotions, body percussion , etc)
  • Students will create their own four beat rhythms using Gr. 2 theory.
Assessent:
  • By the end of Gr. 2, students should be able to read, sing and play music using the pentatonic scale.
  • Write/create music using appropriate theory/form.
  • Students' ability to sing in tune (articulate diction)
  • Students' ability to play an instrument to match the mood or emotion of a song/text.
  • Students' ability to keep beat, create rhythms, recognize patterns, recognize accent beats.

Other abilites I will be looking for:
Play ostinati for songs
Using rhythms/sounds to stories or stories from music.
Ability to suggest solutions to musical problems, (completing rhythms)
Working cooperatively with others
Students should encourage others and be considerate with their responses.
Ability to participate in a 2 part round/canon
